(6/17/13) First State Bank furthers their commitment to serving their customers with plans of expanding locations.

First State Bank Announces Expansion Plans In Macomb County

(St. Clair Shores, Michigan) (June 17, 2013) -
Since 1917, First State Bank (FSB) has been an anchor in Macomb County as a solid, secure, and locally-owned bank dedicated to helping families and businesses meet their financial goals. Today, First State Bank announced plans to further their commitment to serving the county with new locations opening in Sterling Heights and Clinton Township. A new Sterling Heights full-service branch located at Dequindre and 19 Mile Road is slated to open this fall. In addition, a combined retail services branch and loan center will open at year-end on Hayes Road and 18 Mile – the site of the former Cheli’s Chili – in Clinton Township. This office will replace the existing branch on Utica Road and loan center on Mound Road in Sterling Heights.

“As a result of other bank mergers and consolidations, we’ve found that many areas within Macomb County are currently under-served by community banks. First State Bank seeks to fill this need by expanding into these neighborhoods. Once the new offices are open, our renowned service and community bank experience will be far reaching throughout Macomb County and easily accessible to businesses and consumers alike,” stated Gene Lovell, President and Chief Executive Officer of First State Bank.

As Macomb County continues to change and banking needs evolve, First State Bank is committed to supporting the progress by providing state-of-the-art banking technologies such as online banking and billpay, mobile and text banking as well as a surcharge-free ATM network which includes 43,000 nationwide ATMs. Mid-summer, FSB will introduce their Mobile Deposit product, which allows customers to photograph and deposit checks using a smartphone. The banking option, typically associated with larger banks, aims to make local banking even easier. “We want our customers to be able to conveniently bank with us any way they choose yet keep their money close to home and still have access to it wherever they may travel,” added Lovell.

To improve efficiencies and better serve the entire county, First State Bank has converted the office located at 9 Mile and Kelly, to a drive-up facility allowing the bank to utilize the rest of the facility for other purposes. Customers of the Kelly branches will continue to be served through the drive-up, which will maintain its current hours as well as the 24-hour ATM. Two full-service First State Bank branches, one at 9 Mile and Gratiot and another at 9 Mile and Mack, are also 1.5 miles or three minutes away in either direction.

"We remain strongly committed to our Eastpointe customers and we will continue to provide them with hometown service and personal attention that sets us apart from the rest,” said Lovell. With a legacy dating back to the early 1900’s, FSB also remains deeply connected to the city as the Gold Sponsor of the 15th Annual Cruisin’ Gratiot on Saturday June 15th. Earlier in the month, First State Bank awarded $11,000 in scholarships to East Detroit Public School students and hosted a book signing for Mayor/author Suzanne Pixley and her recently published book, Legendary Locals of Eastpointe.

First State Bank is headquartered in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. With 96 years of service and $582 million in assets, First State Bank serves Macomb County with 11 branch offices located in Chesterfield Township, Clinton Township, Eastpointe, Macomb Township, Richmond, St. Clair Shores, Sterling Heights, Washington Township, and Loan Centers in Sterling Heights and West Bloomfield.
