First State Bank Donates City Hall Lighthouse and Proceeds Back to the City
(St. Clair Shores, Mich.) (November 9, 2013) – First State Bank (FSB) was the highest bidder for the City Hall lighthouse at the Cool City Committee Lighthouse Charity Auction held Saturday November 9th at the St. Clair Shores Golf and Country Club. First State Bank immediately donated the lighthouse back to the city so the residents can enjoy the mosaic lighthouse for years to come. Also as part of the auction, bidders could designate a charity/organization to receive the proceeds of the winning bid and the bank donated its winning bid to the St. Clair Shores Fireworks fund.
First State Bank participated in the Cool City Committee Art Project as well in which decorated lighthouses were placed throughout the city. FSBs lighthouse is on display in front of the Harper Branch located at 24335 Harper Avenue between 9 and 10 Mile Roads. FSBs lighthouse is unique in its use of pennies as roof tiles for both the lighthouse and the keeper’s house. “We really enjoyed participating in the lighthouse project and know our customers and residents appreciated our beautiful lighthouse. We also knew firsthand how much time, talent and treasure it took to decorate a lighthouse as detailed as the one at City Hall” says Kathleen Zenisek, Director of Marketing at First State Bank. So when the auction was scheduled, First State Bank launched its plan to keep the City Hall lighthouse right where it was. That lighthouse received many bids but at the close of the auction First State Bank was the winning bidder and donated the lighthouse and the proceeds back to the city.
